A Jamaican man wanted by British police for allegedly knowingly infecting his lover with HIV has surrendered.
The accused man, 27-year-old Jermaine Scott, was being hunted by the police in the UK for over a week after a mother of two claimed he had unprotected sex with her, even though he knew he was HIV positive.
Scott has since been bailed.
Last month the police said while he posed little risk to the public, there was a potential for harm to those in a relationship with him.
Anyone who knowingly infects another person with HIV in Britain can be charged with grievous bodily harm.
Mr. Scott’s former girlfriend, a mother-of-two from Cheshire, said she decided to make the complaint because she is worried he could put other women at risk.
