Conroy Edwards, the member of Mavado’s entourage who was shot by an off-duty policeman at the Quad nightclub has died.
Edwards, better known as ‘Connie’, was attending Bounty Killer’s birthday bash at the Quad night club in New Kingston on Sunday, when a fracas developed between Mavado and the policeman. Mavado reportedly refused to be searched, and during the ensuing drama, the cop was allegedly hit in the face several times. The policeman then discharged his weapon.
The bullet hit Edwards in the abdomen and he was rushed to the hospital, where his condition was listed as critical.
However, on Thursday night, Connie succumbed to his injuries.
According to a press release from Mavado’s publicist, Julian Jones-Grifiths, Mavado and the Alliance are grieving the passing of the young man.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the tragic passing of Conroy Edwards AKA Connie, a close friend of Mavado.
“Connie was shot inside Quad nightclub in the early hours of June 13 by an off-duty policeman. The bullet entered the left side of his abdomen and didn’t exit. Connie succumbed to his injuries on the evening of June 16. The matter is currently under investigation by BSI and INDECOM and we can only hope and pray justice is served.
“Mavado and Connie’s family are asking for time to grieve in private and reporting to be respectful,” the release ended.
