JLP MP's walk out of Parliament

Following a most embarrassing brawl Opposition members walked out of the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

The incident, which was shown on television’s nightly news occurred when the deputy speaker of the House refused to withdraw an instruction he issued to the House marshal, Kevin Williams, to eject the Opposition member J.C. Hutchinson.

Hutchinson had apparently disobeyed an instruction from the deputy speaker Lloyd B Smith.

Smith then summoned the marshal and told him to remove Hutchinson.

As Williams rose from his chair, Hutchinson’s Opposition colleagues came to his defence castigating the deputy speaker and uttering insults to the marshal who then immediately took his seat.

Fuming the Opposition members then began walking out of the chamber.

As they filed out, South West St Catherine MP Everald Warmington stopped at the marshal’s chair pointing in his face and reprimanding him.

The leader of Government business in the House Phillip Paulwell then moved for the adjournment of the House.
