Facebook page of Shango Jackson's alleged shooter explodes with tension

As former Kingston College student and now the Director of Event2Event, Huey Gowdie, is being questioned for the shooting death of Shane ‘Shango” Jackson, the Facebook pages of both men tell a  heartbreaking tale of love, loss and life. The fact is that both men moved in the same circles and therefore had the same set of friends.

Additionally, Gowdie was reportedly the boyfriend of Shango’s ex-wife (although some say she was his estranged wife.) Gowdie plasters a picture of himself and his girlfriend, (Shango’s ex) on his FB page, while Shango shows off a picture wiht his two sons, but makes it abundantly clear that he is in a relationship and names the person. That person is the mother of his second son, to whom Shange refers to lovingly as his “second heartbeat”.

Reports are that on Thursday evening, Shango was visiting what used to be his matrimonial home, where his first son lives with his mother. However, Gowdie was also at the house. Exactly what triggered the argument is still a topic of debate, and there are many versions, but the end result is that Shango was reportedly shot three times and died as a result.

Gowdie was held on Thursday and remains in police custody.

The handsome, suave director of Events2Events is alleged to have shot Shango, who was unarmed, thus triggering a nightmare for friends and family with some of the tension being played out on the social network site, Facebook, 

Gowdie’s best friend stated, “U’ve stood beside me through all my trials at high school, u stood beside me at my graduation at said school(though we went to different schools), u stood beside me on my wedding day, u stood beside me 1′oclock in the morning in the passage at the hospital when my first child was being born (ur godson), for 28 years u’ve stood tall beside me, through all successess and challenges, thats what u expect from family, even though we were not born from the same mother or father we still reffered to each other as brothers not friends I will remain beside u my brother. I truly wished things were different, I truly wish something was done from before, for all the times you went to the Police Station and made a report on the threats against ur life. None of us truly knows what happened that night but I know u and know how quick u r to try and defuse any situation. I truly grieve for Shango and his family, I know ur grieving as well but nothing can be taken back now, I do hope that the whole truth comes out and not the ones that are emotionally tarnished by those who are hurting from the loss of a friend/family, though i don’t blame them because if ur were the one on the recieving end I wouldn’t have nothing positive to say either. Don’t know if or when ur going to see this but until then my brother stay strong. The truth thats what we need to know.

In response to this, a female friend of both Shango and Huey declared: “U know…I understand emotions overriding better judgement…but this seems like the start of the propaganda to try to thwart the course of justice & somehow discredit the honor of Shango Jackson!! I understand friends standing by each other thru thick n thin, but facts are facts….so let’s see urs! If u are in any way trying to present Shango as the perp who was threatening & dangerous…THEN WHY WAS HE KILLED UNARMED AT HIS OWN PREMISES????? C’mon man…let’s not let our emotions take us on a path of wishful thinking or illogical thoughts…we are all entangled in this…they were both friends of mine…but FACTS are facts…RIGHT is right & WRONG is wrong. The FACT that Shango’s blood was spilt on HIS PREMISES while he was UNARMED doesn’t make him the villian in my eyes…certainly doesn ‘t explain why if Huey was in FEAR of his life, he’d be on the man’s property (regardless of woman…the cops are there for this)…so pls…dont try to thwart the thing by making statements that YOU CANT PROVE URSELF! After u have ‘DEFUSED’ the situation by putting a few shots in this ‘perp’ that u are supposedly in fear of…when he drops…WHY NOT STOP SHOOTING & CALL THE COPS!!!! Just support ur friend & try not insinuate anything. I know Shango for over 28yrs…HE WAS A DECENT HUMAN BEING! ..For all u others…I never joined band wagons cauz they are boring & slow & are for the simple of minds…I stand out even if I stand alone! Shango is dead cauz Huey made a bad choice!!!!! Enuf said! kmt….”

Another female friend posted on Gowdie’s FB page: I woke up this morning hoping and praying that the call I got yesterday was just a dream but it is not. No one knows what led up to the situation and therefore should not judge. You have been there for me through lots and always had a smile for me. I love you and will never judge you. I will be there for you.

A woman who was a friend of both Shango and Gowdie notes: Gowdie despite it all you and your family and by extension your Event 2 Events family are in my thoughts and prayers…..lets go back to the days of a good old fist fight, box down, kick down if that type of energy needs to be released ..two lives are lost when a person is fatally shoot..the shooter and the victim……regardless of the circumstances…. two sets of children, families and many friends and overlapping friends of both of you now have pain bestowed on them in a situation like this…….People lets stat thinking again… The Gun in not the solution to the problem…. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Shango – mi brethen , your family and his……i pray for strength and guidance be bestowed on you …

Another female friend stated: Huey…..u hurt my heart….my 2 friends????…how could u???? I don’t care what!!!!!! No WOMAN is worth taking a life!! And u took my friend……u were a friend…..how??? How do i deal with this????????? U put me in a spot but I can only defend what”s right…U DIDN’T HAVE TO TAKE HIM AWAY FROM HIS BOYS!!!!!!! U had an option…..bow down gracefully my friend…despite all the wrath…..bow down…I will still be here…None of us is worthy of casting judgement! I am here….if u let go & let God! U hurt me…..but I’m sure u hurt ur self more…..so I’m here..dont care who wants 2 hate me…u were wrong, u took my friend, but I’m here…

Another person commented: One doesn’t have to be ‘there’ to know that any person who commits a crime should pay the consequence(s). This man has deprived his own stepson of his father. Have u inquired how these ppl r doing?….how they’re coping? 2 innocent little boys have lost their father….a good father. How say u!

Meanwhile, the girlfriend of Shango Jackson, made a statement on Shango’s FB page thanking friends and well-wishers for the many tributes:  would like to express thank you for the calls, the prayers, the visits, the text, the bb whether near or far. I must say little did I know Shango spoke about me more than I thought he DID…I have enjoyed the many stories I have heard over these few hours. Makes me love him even more. I love you FOREVER. My teddy bear, my cuddle buddy, Renee’s cupcake, Jaylen’s FOREVER…A dad any boy would be happy to have.

She continued: I am PROUD of u love…u did well. I won’t promise you I won’t cry, I will promise you thou that you will LIVE ON here on earth. Y?
There will always be an out pour of love.FOREVER…A dad any boy would love to have. I will love you forever and although you have departed from this earth it will be hard for US. As you know you need not worry about me, just continue to protect and watch over us as you did here on earth, Guess what you have an even better view now. You know your Francene, always up for challenge, never gives up and leaves all things in the almighty’s hand.

In another post, she added: We complemented each other as you always say in every sense. We respected each others ideas and space. A simple, pleasant, affectionate loving young lady has always been happy to be apart of your life, to show you that NOT ALL WOMEN r the same. I am happy I was able to be there to share your own family life and one that gave you the openness to experience that Life is happy thoughts and Life is for living. No need to fight. As a God fearing individual and a strong believer I am happy you gave me the chance to let us pray together as a FAMILY. Whether it be that you would come to church with me when you could or simply listening to Joel Osteen.

In her final post, she stated, My love….Jaylen has so much to say as always…Renee is happy you saw her graduate. I am happy we stuck to our kisses for each other before we go our seperate ways. I am happy I was able to give you peace and happiness for your last years, weeks, days here on earth. I got butterflies whenever u told me you are happy I gave you a chance and saved you from a horrible dream.”
