'Carl Lewis is jealous and envious of Usain Bolt, sprinter Ben Johnson tells chatychaty.com

August 8, 2012,chatychaty.com: - Canadian sprinter, Ben Johnson has denounced American Olympic 100 and 200 metre champion, Carl Lewis as a “jealous and envious person”.

In an interview with chatychaty.com, Johnson, who is originally from Jamaica, said that Carl Lewis is unable to give credit to anyone whose talent is far superior to his own.

“Carl Lewis is just an envious and a jealous man. He cannot give credit to any sprinter who is better than he is. That’s just how he is,” said Johnson, who was responding to Carl Lewis’ statement that Olympic sensation, Usain Bolt still has a lot of work to do. According to Lewis, a three-time drugs cheat who was cleared, while Bolt’s performance in defending his Olympic title in the 100 metre was “tremendous”, longevity is what counts.

 “The thing for me, what I really admire about anyone, is longevity. We still have to have the longevity and dominance through the era because for me performance-wise, you really have to put longevity in.

“I’m really not trying to take anything away from his [Bolt's] performance because it was tremendous, but you’ve got to see the consistency over a period of time because as of now it’s just a four-year period and you really have to see a continuous dominance. We’ll see.”

In a very candid interview, Johnson admitted that there is no love lost between him and Lewis. “Oh yeah, there is still a lot going on between us. And that fire will always burn. When they stripped me of my gold medal at the Seoul Olympics in 1988, they gave it to Carl Lewis. But that same year, Lewis had tested positive for drugs as well. It was Congress who allowed him to enter the Olympics that year, because they knew he was the only person who could possibly run and beat me,” Johnson declared.

“Carl Lewis was taking HGH…a growth hormone. His foot went from a size 9 to a size 12 in one year. And that’s why he was wearing braces at age 25. Nobody wears braces at 25,” said Johnson.

He was full of praise for Bolt and the Jamaica team and said he had predicted that they would dominate the field at the London Olympics.

“Usain Bolt is a great sprinter and uses his height and his leverage to dominate the field. I knew Jamaica would dominate the sprint relays and that is good. The athletes are strong and determined and as long as they are physically and mentally ready, they will prove themselves. And they will prove Carl Lewis wrong. Carl Lewis is very, very jealous,” Ben Johnson concluded. 

Ben Johnson’s remarks come as a slew of anti-Carl Lewis comments have appeared all over the Internet by persons who have been outraged by his comments.

Sorry Carl. Logevity and sportsmanship go a long way in creating a legacy and Mr Usain Bolt has both. Yes, people will remember Bolt and Owens for their great feats of athletics. You are right, Carl Lewis was right on his heel, it was just that Ben Johnson took a better drug than he did at the time.

Yip and its very sad when it comes from a 3 time drug cheat who only escaped because politics. But I guess he has to make himself relevant in these days when most people forgot who the ass he was. Stupid man!!

Is Carl Lewis serious. Read another article where he is hinting at drug use by the Jamaicans! This from a man who escaped drug use accusations and was actually caught. First it was that Bolt had to prove himself and could not repeat his winning ways….the Americans would reclaim athletic glory….now they are getting some serious licks its something else…bitter, pompous jackass….never liked him!

I expected that from the idiot. If that were true Bolt would have been found out long ago. Carl Lewis can’t begin to understand why a CARIBBEAN man whips his US counterparts so badly. Soon we will also hear that Kirani James is taking drugs too. Tell the Americans that change is here to stay and that CHANGE is from the Caribbean whether they like it or not.

I understand carl’s misguided logic. even with drugs he, carl lewis, couldnt do it so anyone who does better has to be on drugs too. its difficult having your name on the end of everyone’s tongue one minute and being totally forgotten the next. I feel sorry for carl but i understand his situation. atleast he was able to get his name in a few papers. poor chap
